Cultural Erosion and the *Legality* of Marriage

In a report issued yesterday by the New York Times, several *prominent* Republicans signed a legal brief in support of gay marriage. This includes four former Governors, two members of Congress, and several advisers to former President George W. Bush.

This move continues to shed light upon the fact that those on The Hill are completely out of touch with the American people. While the gay community has been manipulated by mainstream media in to a big hurrah as a victory for gay rights, they are ignoring the fact that this only further enslaves them. They are now caught in the snare that the heterosexual community has been subject to: a government mandate on the institution of marriage.

Last time I checked, marriage was not an illegal act, but a biblical concept. Lets take a look. From freedictionary:

1. a. Official or legal permission to do or own a specified thing. See Synonyms at permission.

b. A document, plate, or tag that is issued as proof of official or legal permission: a driver’s license.
2. Deviation from normal rules, practices, or methods in order to achieve a certain end or effect.
3. Latitude of action, especially in behavior or speech. See Synonyms at freedom.

4. a. Lack of due restraint; excessive freedom: “When liberty becomes license, dictatorship is near” (Will Durant).

b. Heedlessness for the precepts of proper behavior; licentiousness.·censed, li·cens·ing, li·cens·es

1. To give or yield permission to or for.
2. To grant a license to or for; authorize. See Synonyms at authorize.
Permission. Since when does one need permission to do something which is protected by their religious freedom? Freedom. Freedom of what? The freedom to make your own choice…or is it the government’s job to issue approval? Authorize. Since when does the government hold authority over a biblical concept?
Let’s take a look at Merriam-Webster:

noun \ˈlī-sən(t)s\

1 a: permission to act  b: freedom of action

2 a: a permission granted by competent authority to engage in a business or occupation or in an activity otherwise unlawful
b: a document, plate, or tag evidencing a license granted
c: a grant by the holder of a copyright or patent to another of any of the rights embodied in the copyright or patent short of an assignment of all rights
3 a: freedom that allows or is used with irresponsibility
b: disregard for standards of personal conduct :licentiousness
4 deviation from fact, form, or rule by an artist or writer for the sake of the effect gained
What? “An activity otherwise unlawful”? Yes, the power the government has impressed upon the church has deemed it illegal for anyone to marry, gay or straight, within a church without permission from the State to do what is otherwise unlawful, irresponsible, with  disregard for standards of personal conduct, and is a deviation from normal rules, practices, or methods. And there you have it, the act of marriage has now become subject to criminal activity unless a government official decides that it in your best interest to grant your request. Sounds like freedom, eh?
In 1999, while planning my wedding, we were specifically told by the priest that it was illegal for the church to perform the ceremonial rite of marriage. When pressed, he further responded that no church would perform such as it would jeopardize the church’s tax-exempt status. So, it seems their hands were tied as well.
This is where the government first really screwed the homosexual community, knowing at the time that churches would not perform weddings to those of the same-sex as it violated their belief system, bound churches pretty much by extortion. With the signing of this brief, it now looks as though the gay community is now bound too.
A little food for thought from my dear friend Scott Boston:

I don’t think the Government should tell Churches who to marry.

I also don’t think the Government should tell Churches who they shouldn’t marry.
If a church says that gay marriage is in violation with its beliefs and tenets of its faith then I have no problem with that church not performing that rite.
If a gay couple can find a church that wants to marry them, more power to them.
If you go to the justice of the peace, I think you should get a civil union no matter who you are since it is a civil and not a religious institution.
The reason that Government got involved in marriage was because progressives who believed in eugenics wanted to make sure that blacks and whites could not intermarry and dilute the white race.
Instead, both sides in Washington are now perpetuating more big-government by placing further restrictions on citizens. This is not a win for gay marriage, it is a further push toward slavery. We now have one more notch on the post of government control.
As the GOP continues to erode, so will society and American culture. From stixblog:
The slow decay of morality is the basis of the socialist movement.  It makes the people look to the State instead of Community and Religion for direction.
I do not wear my religion on my sleeve, but the total disregard for Religious Liberty is eroding, and is going into overtime with Obama.
It was mentioned to me that in a lot of ways, violent revolution would be easier than the battle that we and our children are about to face in the next generation.
I just finished The Harbinger at book club. It’s a very interesting read about an ancient biblical prophecy that foretells our collapse.
This isn’t a fight that our children will fight.  It’s ramping up to befall America in just a few short years. Things will continue to get worse as organizations and institutions fall into disarray, the GOP is there now.
Turning back to God is the only answer.
With that said, this is precisely where America stands at this moment:
The question is, will we continue to slam the door, or will we finally look to see what is on the other side before it’s too late?

Attention Christians, this is a Culture War!

February 25, 2013

WIBC_Garrison_Loesch_Breitbart3-150x150So, angry callers swamped the phone lines of The Dana Show this afternoon wanting to excoriate the popular Christian talk-show host for wanting to engage in culture.

Dana live-tweeted the Oscars last night while watching the glamorization of ego event…and some on the Christian right were infuriated at her for wanting to engage in culture. These people argue that by any engagement in modern-day culture, one is promoting and contributing to the leftist Hollywood agenda.

Seriously? Seriously. I’ve got some news for you. Christianity is under attack here in America, in case you haven’t noticed. This is a cultural war we are in the midst of. Politics is downstream of culture. Until we reign in the culture, there is little that anyone will be able to do regarding violence, abortion issues, domestic issues, marital issues, abuse issues…shall I go on? First, we must recapture and inject pure biblical principles back into our society. What happened to honesty, humility, compassion, responsibility, purity, and respect? Until we obtain these, the rest is moot. The only way to achieve this is to engage in the culture that promotes the antithesis of Godliness.

And just a reminder: Without cultural engagement, we would never have had Elvis, Johnny Cash, Bob Hope, Ronald Reagan, Charles Schultz, CS Lewis, or, of course, the show Growing Pains! Could you imagine?

Christ calls us to engage, specifically, in Matt 28 16-20. I wouldn’t argue with that. Just sayin.

Band-Aid: Christmas and the Hypocrisy of Hollywood

Remember when at least the hypocrites of Hollywood still at least encouraged prayer? Yes, hard to imagine, I know. They actually really did.
No, I don’t think they even believed what they were saying…even then…and if they did, they did, their logic was SO flawed, well, it’s terrifying that these people.could be of cultural influence.
I remember as a young, innocent, optimist how cool I thought Band-Aid was. I remember how inspired I felt every time I listened to Do They Know it’s Christmas?
Those, of course, were the days of Apartheid. Apartwho? Exactly. The *fight against Apartheid* was little more than a convenient political feel-good project aimed at indoctrinating the youth of the 80s for future political purposes. The *famine* in Ethiopia continues. And by definition, it was not a *famine*.
Now, in my older, wiser years, as the rosy glasses have come off, I can see just how stupid, insulting, and self-serving that little jingle really is.
(just to note: none of the *featured artists* for this little ditty were of African decent…nor were they black Americans…just another little note on hypocrisy by today’s standards…)

Let’s take a look at the grammatically, logically, and historically challenged lyrics of this who’s who collaboration of the 1980s:

Do They Know it’s Christmas? (Feed the World)- 1984:

Paul Young: It’s Christmas time, there’s no need to be afraid. At christmastime,
Big “C”, little “c”…take your pick…then decide if it is one word or two.

we let in light and we banish shade.
Wrong, enviornmentalists encourage minimal use of electricity…oh, wait! That’s not literal? My bad. It’s still wrong. In this society, we banish everything and everything that could be meaningful to one person for the sake that it might not *offend* another.

Boy George: And in our world of plenty, we can spread a smile of joy!
Okay, I agree with that

Throw your arms around the world at christmas time.
Huh? Christians barely have the ability to celebrate Christmas without persecution…and just about anyone or any business who dares to say “Merry Christmas” is sued. This assumption is rejected as status quo dictates we keep to ourselves.

(Phil Collins on the drums)

George Micheal: But say a prayer-

pray for the other ones.
ZOMG! He says it twice! Again, WHAT!!??!?!?!?!?

At christmas time,

Simon Le Bon: it’s hard,
“It’s hard? What’s hard? It’s hard to pray? Actually, it’s not…unless you dare utter a sound while doing so…then yes, it is heard to pray with people screaming in your ear about how your prayer offends their spiritual immaturity.

but when you’re having fun,
Fun is not allowed…just sayin!

there’s a world outside your window
Not just in Africa, and it does include the United States of America too…we also have the poor, the starving, the unemployed here that need help here too!

Sting and Simon Le Bon: And it’s a world of dreaded fear,
Yep, the whole world experiences that.

where the only water flowing is a bitter sting of tears
I think this would have been better written as “stream”…that being said, I am willing to concede that this was pertinent to the time it was written and not inclusive of the millions of wells that have been built around the world by Christian organizations and churches since this song was authored.

and the christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom:
Wrong again. Anything of fear is not of God.

Bono: Well tonight thank God it’s them instead of you.
*Sigh*, this is getting old…forgive me, I guess I just have to resolve myself to the fact that this is an athiest writing a “cHRiSt-?-mAS” song…or is it a “Christian” with no clue about who God is or how He really works? NEVER rejoice in the struggles of others, but lift them up in prayer.

And there won’t be snow in Africa this christmas time.
Ironic…this was in the day and age of *Global Cooling*. Yes, “Global Cooling”!!!

The greatest gift they’ll get this year is life,
Okay, hold it right here for a second. This was the statement that initially caught my attention: LIFE is the greatest gift any of us will ever get…and minute of any hour of any day of any week of any year. Life is the greatest gift we will ever get! We were never promised tomorrow. I’ll go one further: The entire point of the Christian celebration of Christmas is not about trees, or material items, or feasts, or bells, or stockings, it snow…it’s not about the date of December 25… It is about celebrating the Gift God gave to those of us who do believe in Him. That gift was God-incarnate, Jesus. And the celebration of Christmas is the celebration of the Gift of the birth of Jesus.
Interestingly, the “Christmas” acceptable here in America seems to be the secular celebration of a big fat man (who obviously doesn’t do yoga and cares nothing of his health) who magically flies around the sky via reindeer (okay, let’s teach our kids that lying is okay, if it is for a *good enough* reason, lavishing undeserved gifts on punk-nosed snots (admit it, you know who I am talking about), and spending money you can not afford to prove your love…which, by the way makes it impossible to achieve the one thing God and Band-Aid have in common here: charity. Of course, according to Band-Aid, charity is solely limited to Africa, and not your fellow brother or sister who us in need.

Okay, let’s finish this up…

Where nothing ever grows,
Assumption rejected. Plenty grows in Africa.

no rain or rivers flow
Again, assumption rejected. There are rivers in Africa, and it does rain there too…

Do they know it’s christmas time at all?
Possibly not. Has the Bible been shared with them? Gave they been introduced to Christianity?…you know, hence Christmas?
I mean, honestly, if the answer is “No”, then what is the point of this song, really? How could they possibly understand the motive behind and offering they know nothing about?
More importantly, why in the world would you do something under such false pretended, if you reject Christ?
Do people really not see the fallacy in this? It’s totally ignorant, really.

Here’s to you, raise your glass for everyone.
Ah, here we get into the Hollywood mindset…Everything is a celebration! Let us pat ourselves on the back for a job well done! *Insert occasion for celebration here* And actually,.if you watch the video today, you will not only see that, yes, these people did at one time have a full head of hair, but they really DO enjoy patting each other on the back for a job well done, than they enjoyed the actual making of this.

Here’s to them,
Snide and self-serving.

underneath that burning sun.
Again, Global Cooling. Had they no hope?

Do they know it’s christmas time at all?
See above.

Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
A statistical impossibility.

Let them know it’s christmas time and
Feed the world.
And it just becomes redudndant from here…

Let them know it’s christmas time
Feed the world Let them know it’s christmas time
Feed the world Let them know it’s christmas time
Feed the world Let them know it’s christmas time
Feed the world
Let them know it’s christmas time
Drumroll for the most logical illogical lyrics of the entire song:
I hope you like this song even though it’s not Christmas.

Protesters Vandalize Chick-Fil-A in Los Angeles

Right, those “tolerant”leftists are law-abiding…just like those Tea Partiers!

Tim Hawkins – God Bless You, Chick-fil-A

Because we are just getting started…and I’m hungry…

See you all at Chick-Fil-A tonight at 7pm CST! We will be at the Des Peres, MO location!

UPDATED: Chick-Fil-A, Take Two

UPDATE: Meet at a Chick-Fil-A near you tomorrow, August 3, 6:30pm CST! Team #GGISTL (Gateway Grassroots) will be at the Des Peres location on Manchester. See you then!

On the heels of perhaps the most successful buycott in the nation’s history, Chick-Fil-A faces in impending not-a-boycott tomorrow with GLADD’s Same-sex kiss-in at CFA locations from coast to coast at 8pm WST.
Yeah. There are a few problems with that. First of all, the last thing I want with my waffle fries is a side of tongue at the next table. I don’t care if it’s straight, gay, old, young, black, white, or alien-life-form…it’s disgusting and inappropriate. Not just inappropriate, it’s offensive. And you can bet your bippy I will be there to point it out to anyone groping anyone else for the rest of the world to see.
I mean, COME ON…my husband and I have enough respect for the intimacy shared as spouses, that it is between us…not on top of a table in an eatery. When did our culture become so perverted?
Do you agree? Be sure to patronize Chick-Fil-A a second time…to serve all those who hate supporters of the traditional, Biblical definition of marriage a double whammy! 7pm CST at a Chick-Fil-A near you (if you bring your children, be sure to bring blindfolds for them, and don’t forget your cameras)…
Now, let’s take a look at the comical problems the left has just brought upon themselves:
1. Such behavior is offensive. We have covered this. I will add that of all those participating in the August 1st buycott of Chick-Fil-A, I did not witness one single display of sexual expression. I don’t think I even witnessed kissing by couples waiting in line for, sometimes over 2 hours. Is that to say they don’t love each other? no. Just that they are able to identify and practice self-control.
2. Chick-Fil-A is a private corporation, and have the right to have anyone removed from their property for inappropriate behavior as they deem fit. In short, if publicly porking your partner in an establishment makes other customers uncomfortable, they have the right to ask you to leave. This applies to heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, asexual.
3. The law. Yes, those pesky loitering laws. CFA is a business and anyone on the premises who are not making a purchase would be in fact loitering…punishable by law. Consequences range anywhere from citation, to removal from property, to arrest. Yes, one has the 1st Amendment, but under the scope of the law. If your expression serves to cripple the otherwise natural flow of business, you do not have that right without being penalized. So guess what, they are going to have to pony up and give Chick-Fil-A money for a meal, or take their grope-fest elsewhere.
I know, it seems just SO intolerant, doesn’t it? Expecting decent behavior from “decent” human beings…you know, the ones who want special treatment for being “just like everybody else”? The ones who tell is we are hatera because we don’t want to be told that we have to adopt another’s way of life, they same way they don’t want to be told same thing! Who comes up with this stuff anyway.
My prediction: Epic Fail… and another record day at Chick-Fil-A. See you there!

Boy Scouts of America: Eagle Scout Centennial

Today marks the 100 year Anniversary of the induction of the first Eagle Scout.
The Boy Scouts of America is an organization that has always been near and dear to my heart. Two years ago, I watched my husband jump feet-first into something he had been eagerly, and painstakingly waiting for six years to do: lead my son’s Cub Scout Den.
My husband is an Eagle Scout. He accomplished earning his Eagle in 1990 and received his certificate signed by Papa Bush (there is no telling if he would have accepted his award with Clinton’s name on it). From there on, The Scouts have been very much a part of our lives. He and I were Co-Advisors for a Venture Crew before we had children, and have always been advocates for the right of this private organization to maintain standards in alignment with it’s core values…even if it excluded someone who did not agree with those values. And really, why would you want to be a part of a group you disagreed with?
There are many organizations out there that are tolerant of homosexuality. Because the BSA’s moral code, there is no room for the acknowledgement of homosexual behavior.
What there is room for:

For an organization to instill such things in our young men, our future fathers, husbands and leaders, is an amazing feat. No doubt Eagle Scouts have been trained up right…and will always be prepared.

Kudos to the BSA, and kudos to every Eagle Scout out there! And happy 100th birthday to an amazing program!
