Invocation receives standing ovation, despite attempts to stop it.

This is what we, as Christians, are called to do. We were never promised it was going to be easy, but we were promised we would never be alone. This is what graduating high school student and class President Jonathan Hardwick of Lincoln County High School in Stanford, Kentucky learned last Friday. He received a standing ovation during his graduation ceremony after leading attendees in prayer, despite an attempt by six students who had attempted to have the invocation banned.

As reported by ChristianNews.net Hardwick stood by his beliefs and values. A bold move that not only went noticed, but was cheered by a crowd re-energized in the very soul.

“Thank you for helping us get here safely today, Lord,” he prayed. “And thank you for the many blessings You have given us.”

At first, the room filled with claps and cheers for Hardwick, but several seconds later, graduation attendees rose to their feet.

Prayer has been a tradition at Lincoln County High School, but this year, six students approached Principal Tim Godbey and asked him to put an end to the practice.

We need more Davids, like Hardwick, in today’s society…especially amongst our youth. This is a breath of fresh air to say the least.

Band-Aid: Christmas and the Hypocrisy of Hollywood

Remember when at least the hypocrites of Hollywood still at least encouraged prayer? Yes, hard to imagine, I know. They actually really did.
No, I don’t think they even believed what they were saying…even then…and if they did, they did, their logic was SO flawed, well, it’s terrifying that these people.could be of cultural influence.
I remember as a young, innocent, optimist how cool I thought Band-Aid was. I remember how inspired I felt every time I listened to Do They Know it’s Christmas?
Those, of course, were the days of Apartheid. Apartwho? Exactly. The *fight against Apartheid* was little more than a convenient political feel-good project aimed at indoctrinating the youth of the 80s for future political purposes. The *famine* in Ethiopia continues. And by definition, it was not a *famine*.
Now, in my older, wiser years, as the rosy glasses have come off, I can see just how stupid, insulting, and self-serving that little jingle really is.
image
(just to note: none of the *featured artists* for this little ditty were of African decent…nor were they black Americans…just another little note on hypocrisy by today’s standards…)

Let’s take a look at the grammatically, logically, and historically challenged lyrics of this who’s who collaboration of the 1980s:

Do They Know it’s Christmas? (Feed the World)- 1984:

Paul Young: It’s Christmas time, there’s no need to be afraid. At christmastime,
Big “C”, little “c”…take your pick…then decide if it is one word or two.

we let in light and we banish shade.
Wrong, enviornmentalists encourage minimal use of electricity…oh, wait! That’s not literal? My bad. It’s still wrong. In this society, we banish everything and everything that could be meaningful to one person for the sake that it might not *offend* another.

Boy George: And in our world of plenty, we can spread a smile of joy!
Okay, I agree with that

Throw your arms around the world at christmas time.
Huh? Christians barely have the ability to celebrate Christmas without persecution…and just about anyone or any business who dares to say “Merry Christmas” is sued. This assumption is rejected as status quo dictates we keep to ourselves.

(Phil Collins on the drums)

George Micheal: But say a prayer-
WHAT!!??!?!?!?

pray for the other ones.
ZOMG! He says it twice! Again, WHAT!!??!?!?!?!?

At christmas time,

Simon Le Bon: it’s hard,
“It’s hard? What’s hard? It’s hard to pray? Actually, it’s not…unless you dare utter a sound while doing so…then yes, it is heard to pray with people screaming in your ear about how your prayer offends their spiritual immaturity.

but when you’re having fun,
Fun is not allowed…just sayin!

there’s a world outside your window
Not just in Africa, and it does include the United States of America too…we also have the poor, the starving, the unemployed here that need help here too!

Sting and Simon Le Bon: And it’s a world of dreaded fear,
Yep, the whole world experiences that.

where the only water flowing is a bitter sting of tears
I think this would have been better written as “stream”…that being said, I am willing to concede that this was pertinent to the time it was written and not inclusive of the millions of wells that have been built around the world by Christian organizations and churches since this song was authored.

and the christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom:
Wrong again. Anything of fear is not of God.

Bono: Well tonight thank God it’s them instead of you.
*Sigh*, this is getting old…forgive me, I guess I just have to resolve myself to the fact that this is an athiest writing a “cHRiSt-?-mAS” song…or is it a “Christian” with no clue about who God is or how He really works? NEVER rejoice in the struggles of others, but lift them up in prayer.

And there won’t be snow in Africa this christmas time.
Ironic…this was in the day and age of *Global Cooling*. Yes, “Global Cooling”!!!

The greatest gift they’ll get this year is life,
Okay, hold it right here for a second. This was the statement that initially caught my attention: LIFE is the greatest gift any of us will ever get…and minute of any hour of any day of any week of any year. Life is the greatest gift we will ever get! We were never promised tomorrow. I’ll go one further: The entire point of the Christian celebration of Christmas is not about trees, or material items, or feasts, or bells, or stockings, it snow…it’s not about the date of December 25… It is about celebrating the Gift God gave to those of us who do believe in Him. That gift was God-incarnate, Jesus. And the celebration of Christmas is the celebration of the Gift of the birth of Jesus.
Interestingly, the “Christmas” acceptable here in America seems to be the secular celebration of a big fat man (who obviously doesn’t do yoga and cares nothing of his health) who magically flies around the sky via reindeer (okay, let’s teach our kids that lying is okay, if it is for a *good enough* reason, lavishing undeserved gifts on punk-nosed snots (admit it, you know who I am talking about), and spending money you can not afford to prove your love…which, by the way makes it impossible to achieve the one thing God and Band-Aid have in common here: charity. Of course, according to Band-Aid, charity is solely limited to Africa, and not your fellow brother or sister who us in need.

Okay, let’s finish this up…

Where nothing ever grows,
Assumption rejected. Plenty grows in Africa.

no rain or rivers flow
Again, assumption rejected. There are rivers in Africa, and it does rain there too…

Do they know it’s christmas time at all?
Possibly not. Has the Bible been shared with them? Gave they been introduced to Christianity?…you know, hence Christmas?
I mean, honestly, if the answer is “No”, then what is the point of this song, really? How could they possibly understand the motive behind and offering they know nothing about?
More importantly, why in the world would you do something under such false pretended, if you reject Christ?
Do people really not see the fallacy in this? It’s totally ignorant, really.

Here’s to you, raise your glass for everyone.
Ah, here we get into the Hollywood mindset…Everything is a celebration! Let us pat ourselves on the back for a job well done! *Insert occasion for celebration here* And actually,.if you watch the video today, you will not only see that, yes, these people did at one time have a full head of hair, but they really DO enjoy patting each other on the back for a job well done, than they enjoyed the actual making of this.

Here’s to them,
Snide and self-serving.

underneath that burning sun.
Again, Global Cooling. Had they no hope?

Do they know it’s christmas time at all?
See above.

Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
A statistical impossibility.

Let them know it’s christmas time and
Feed the world.
And it just becomes redudndant from here…

Let them know it’s christmas time
and
Feed the world Let them know it’s christmas time
and
Feed the world Let them know it’s christmas time
and
Feed the world Let them know it’s christmas time
and
Feed the world
Let them know it’s christmas time
Drumroll for the most logical illogical lyrics of the entire song:
I hope you like this song even though it’s not Christmas.
Yep.

Pray for the Children of Newtown Connecticut

No child should ever have this expression on their face.

This simply should not happen I’m America. Twenty children, twenty are dead…an entire Kindergarten class, wiped out.
Twenty families will not have their babies come home. Never.
Over 600 students witnessed this terror. They will be forever scared. The will most likely suffer PTSD, they will never feel safe again…anywhere or any time.
The community is Newtown,
Connecticut will never recover from this.
This is a senseless act. This is an impossible situation.
This is the act of a sociopathic lunatic. And that is all that it is.
For all of the disgusting people who are stooping so low as to exploit the dead; exploit the surviving witnesses; exploit the traumatized parents; exploit the mommies and daddies who kissed their children as they sent them on their way to school without warning that this was the last they would ever see of their baby: There is a special place in help for you.
How dare anybody assign blame in such an emotional, horrific tragedy.
Put your fingers down and your hands together instead.
These children, these families, this community needs prayer. They need all the prayer they can get right now. They need nothing else.
Pray for them. Pray.

Akin Raises $1 MIL Online

This letter was just sent by Congressman Todd Akin who is now running for the Missouri Senate.
Regardless of the recent controversy, you have a choice: a 6 second gaffe, or (another) 6 year term for McCaskill? What matters more?

Friends, we did it! We have now officially passed the $1 million mark in online fundraising, and it’s all because of YOU!

That’s obviously good news. The bad news is that Claire McCaskill is continuing to outspend us substantially across Missouri on television ads.

She may have the money, but we have the numbers…thousands of people have stepped up to the plate in support of our campaign, and we’ll continue to need your help in these critical last few week.

We know how important it is to keep Claire McCaskill out of the Senate. Whether its been personally enriching herself on the stimulus or casting the deciding vote in favor of Obamacare, she has been a disaster for Missouri and for our nation.

Please, continue your support, and encourage your friends and neighbors to get involved as well. You can do so here.

Forward this to a friend with the link above, and ask them to sign up today!

Sincerely,

Todd.

Now, we only have prayer, our pocketbooks and our voice at the ballot to make this happen.
Does the tea party still have a voice? If so, we need to show the strength we have to put our priciples behind Akin. Be heard! Be loud! Stand strong!
WWJD?

Todd Akin: The Congressman, The Senator

Last night, my family and I attended several Missouri Primary watch parties…but none as electrified as that of now Senatorial Candidate Todd Akin.
As each updated poll result hit the big screen, the crowd cheered with greater enthusiasm as each precinct reported in. What really caught my eye though, was as I canvassed the room, I noticed no less than 30 men and women sitting quietly among the perimeter of the at-capacity ballroom. It was not that they were not excited by the unfolding developments in the hottest contested race in the State, nor were they socially awkward and not wanting to chat with other attendees…they had quietly surrounded the perimeter of the room in intercessory prayer.
Prayer warriors had come to offer up their faith for God’s Provision, Favor, and Grace to form a hedge around this campaign. I joined them.
This was nothing new to me regarding the Akins. I’m not just talking about the campaign, but the way they live their lives out daily.
Several years ago, Todd Akin’s wife, Lulli, reached out to me. She told me that she had been praying and felt the Lord had convicted her to take me in under her wing as a mentor and prayer partner. Admittedly, I was taken aback, as a relative newcomer to Missouri politics. However, what nobody else knew, was that I had been praying for that very type of relationship…never knowing it was Lulli Akin that God had intended. So, the relationship of her as my spiritual mother-figure began.
Be it walking thru the park, lunch, or conversations by phone or text, each conversation was reverent, insightful, and prayerful.
Eventually, Lulli shared with my the story of thecourtship between her and Todd..a story which could easily be taken right out of a biblical romance novel. She talked about their prayerful plight through God’s desire for her husband in politics, and the strength and wisdom she gleaned from The Lord as a mother, and wife of a public figure. It was then that she shared perhaps the most profound statement I had ever heard:
She told me “Todd fears The Lord, not man.”
Wow! It hit me. Not only that, but looking back upon Akin’s voting record, it all made sense.
This is the man who took the 2am phone call from President Bush, telling him that he was sorry, but he had prayed about No Child Left Behind, and could not vote for it. This was Bush’s friend, voting against the First Lady’s pet project. If that doesn’t scream obedience, I don’t know what does.
Though Todd was, by all media accounts, looking as though his decision to vacate his Congressional seat to seek the Senate was facing a career-ending decision, those of us who understand both Todd and God’s divinity dutifully held on to faith by prayer.
Jim Talent has said “God just protects that man”, referring to Akin. Indeed, He protects His chosen.

Suddenly, I was jolted back into realtime last night by an overwhelming roar in the room. A roar so loud, it sent children and grandchildren who had been playing in the lobby running in to see what had happened. That was the moment Todd Akin was declared winner of the Missouri Senate Primary.
Minutes later, Akin’s son, Campaign Manager Perry Akin took the stage, announced the victory, and introduced Todd, joined by his wife, children and grandchildren in an electrifying victory speech.
I have no doubt that Akin, an engineer who genetically is more wired as a Senator than the successful Congressman he has been, will be guided and protected by God throughout his bid for the Missouri Senate, and his work there, once elected. I will join the Akins, and Christians everyday in praying over Akin, his family, his campaign, and his decisions…that God would continue to protect him.
Akin has made many decisions that enraged the Establishment GOP, yet he prevailed last night. He overcame a three-way race despite facing a massive war-chest and string of last-minute big-ticket endorsements by his opponents. That, no doubt, is Divine Intervention.
I will say it, so it sinks in: Todd fears The Lord, not man. And The Lord will honor that, always. I have no doubt he will carry this through his Senatorial career. It’s who he is.
