Rockwood School District Publishes Student Health Records Online

It seems that the Rockwood School District in St Louis Missouri just can’t take a break. continues to make poor, unconstitutional decisions.

First, in an effort to receive vouchers from the state, schools implemented a “Run for Recess” requiring students run laps around the track before participating in what was left of their 15 minute recess. Next, it was discovered that the district  fingerprints all students without parental consent. Then came the state audit which unveiled what we already knew: the district was funneling millions of dollars to school board president Steve Smith (who later resigned, but not before throwing Superintendent Bruce Borchers under the bus. Borchers will not return to RSD).

The fingerprinting scandal broke when a mother noticed that someone else was eating off of her child’s account. Upon inquiry, she was told that “someone else’s fingerprint must be similar to your son’s”. Huh? Fingerprint. The district refused to comment on the issue, but later published an *opt-out* document for parents to restrict the child from being fingerprinted…but there is no indication anywhere on their website which informs parents of the standard practice. In other words, if the parent is not aware of the fingerprinting of their child, they would have no way of knowing to click on the opt-out link. This also gives the district the opportunity to implement this measure, though unconstitutional, and without parental consent of a minor, by default.

Now it has been discovered that the Rockwood School District has taken upon itself to actually publish student health records online. These records can be found on the district’s “Infinite Campus” site which is a database for all things and anything the district wants on record. Personal information. Information that goes directly into the Longitudinal Database as part of Common Core Standards. You can find all you need and more on the Longitudinal Database, as well as Common Core at Missouri Education Watchdog.

This database, though on a secure webpage, still jeopardizes student privacy rights. Personal information of a minor can not be shared or published without parental consent. RSD was approached on this issue, to which they (per their M.O.) remained silent and refused any comment regarding these publications. This database, of course, may be subject to sale, where another entity would have full access to this information. Worse, this database may also be seized by the federal government as part of  Common Core integration.  It seems that as long as the parents don’t know what is going on, RSD will continue to institute whatever practices they desire, despite the law.

UPDATED: Hamlin: Censorship Aspires for Congressional Seat

It seems that Robyn Hamlin, the Libertarian running as a Republican in the First Congressional District of Missouri, has a bit of a hypocrisy problem.

On June 24, at the annual St Louis GOP picnic, Hamlin was approached by Tony Laszacs and questioned as to why she had not yet responded to the invitation to debate Martin Baker, her primary opponent, at an event to be held on July 24 sponsored by the League of Women voters. Hamlin subsequently posted a picture of that interaction on her campaign’s Facebook page.

Grassroots activist Jen Ennenbach had made a statement as to the context of the photograph several times in the comments section of the pic.

So, I guess seeing as how you have taken my comment down 3 times now, I guess you DON’T want your constituents to know that this really IS Tony inviting you to tonight’s debate. So much for honesty and transparency.

Each time, Hamlin removed the comments from her campaign page, in an attempt to cover up her cowardly refusal to even acknowledge her request to debate by both her opponent, and the LWV. CryLiberty was sent screenshots of Hamlin’s campaign page verifying this…along with a message from the source.

You deleted yet another comment on your page? Are you kidding me? Ron Paul would be ashamed of you, Republicans should be ashamed of you, and Libertarians should be ashamed of you. Every single citizen that supports Liberty, freedom and people voice being heard should be ashamed of you. You are scared of free speech, you are scared of people disagreeing with you, and you’re scared of the truth being told. I am disgusted! People want more freedom…and “a representative that listens to them”?….You just proved it isn’t you!!!

Despite Hamlin’s refusal to respond to the debate, which caused the LWV to cancel the event, Baker retained the venue and held a candidate meet-and-greet in lieu of the debate.

“It is so disturbing to me that someone would actually run for an elected office, but not even make themselves available to the voters. If this is the way she treats constituents before an election, I can’t imagine how she would treat us if she was actually elected.” Stated one attendee who came to the event to learn more about the candidates. She added, “It’s like Claire McCaskill all over again. So disappointing, but I’m still glad I’m here.”

It looks as though Hamlin will continue to marginalize herself in the less than two weeks left until the primary election on August 7. In the past month, Hamlin has been peppered by accusations of running a dirty campaign against her opponent, as well as the call to question her “Republican” status.

The self-proclaimed Libertarian continues to attempt to align herself with the St Louis Republican Party, yet claims that the GOP has completely ignored her campaign, according to her campaign’s website. However, as evidenced by her practice of censorship, it is apparent that she can no longer align herself with “libertarian” principles either.

Meanwhile, Baker presented his platform, “Baker’s Dozen”, to an animated crowd, giving voters what they so dutifully seek…information.

MOCD1: The Great Debate(s)

Tomorrow, July 24, The League of Women Voters is slated as holding a debate for the two candidates in the GOP Primary Race in Missouri’s First Congressional District: Martin Baker and Robyn Hamlin. The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel-St Louis Airport, Bridgeton, MO from 7-8:30pm.

Over the past few weeks, we have sat and watched a nasty smear campaign orchestrated by Hamlin’s camp against Baker. One that have left most of us wondering: 1. Will she even show up at the event, and 2. If she does, why?

Why do we ask “why”? Well, it seems as though Mrs Hamlin is quite a bit confused as to where she actually even fits in to the political system. Before announcing her candidacy, Hamlin posted a poll on her Facebook page asking readers to vote on what party she should run under:

Now, before we go any further, one must ask this: If you are not a Republican, why on earth would you run as one? Is it because you do not think your platform is not strong enough to run independently? Is it because you are ashamed of your Libertarian roots? Is it because “well, if Ron Paul can do it, so can I”? Whatever the answer, it’s weak at best. So weak, it looks like Hamlin is just running to see herself run.

Last week, Hamlin released a statement touting the campaign’s hiring of the firm Liberty Torch Consulting Group, a Libertarian front group. The announcement goes on to read:

Hamlin For Congress is now working with Liberty Torch Political Consulting, LLC. They are bringing in some of the biggest names in the Republican movement, from David Adams (who managed Rand Paul’s successful Senate campaign) to Jonathan Bydlak (who oversaw Ron Paul’s record breaking 2008 fundraising operation) to Dave Nalle (national chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus) to Christopher Hamilton (who designs ads and commercials for such clients as McDonalds, Sprint, and Coca Cola).

Apparently this new firm is also well versed in writing run-on sentences, as can be seen here. In their first press release for the Hamlin Campaign, Hamlin complains she is ignored by Missouri’s GOP.

…um, they are probably ignoring you because you are not a Republican. Enough said on that.

Additionally, Robyn claims to be a Tea Party candidate, and one that “listens to you”…however, aside from signing the STLTPC Tea Party Treaty during her last campaign run, noted area leaders within the movement can not name an example where they can recall Hamlin taking to the streets in a single Tea Party issue, here in St Louis.

So, we are left with the remaining questions:

Will Hamlin show at the League of Women Voters’ Debate on July 24?

Will Hamlin bow out of the GOP Race and run on the Libertarian ballot as she should?

Will Hamlin answer to the smear campaign against Baker?

Will the GOP get behind the only Republican in this race (as they should)?

Most importantly, what do you think about this?

UPDATE: Due to Hamlin’s repeated lack of response to the evnt, Missouri’s League of Women Voters have cancelled the debate. Baker’s Campaign has retained the venue and will be hosting a public meet and greet with the Candidate and staffers.

Hamlin’s Image is Less Than Desirable in Public

Here is what popped up in my inbox first thing this morning:

Has anyone in the GOP ever actually met Hamlin?

I’d like to say ‘not to be rude’… but… I’m actually all for being rude when it’s the best way to express what’s true – she looks like a friggin’ bag lady!

She & Martin both came to the After-Party tonight. Martin, as usual, was neat, clean & professional looking; she, looked like a sloppy, unkempt, bag lady.

And sadly, her appearances weren’t only skin deep – she was going around telling everyone how she just contracted ‘big time’ consultants to run her campaign, and I swear, she came off like the neighbor you wish you didn’t have, talking up the killer deal they and they alone had wangled on a high priced plasma TV ‘that you’ll NEVER be able to afford!’.

Martin, on the other hand, was going around the room, talking about the issues, and the debate he was looking forward to participating in.

If you want the GOP to get behind Martin, introduce them to Hamlin!

Hamlin Smear Campaign Smear Against Baker, Take 2

Apparently, Robyn Hamlin’s attempted smear campaign on Martin Baker in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District is a take two of her last attempt.

Martin Baker’s ex-wife, Channel, spoke openly in an interview today about Hamlin’s claims that Baker was a dead-beat-dad who was burdened by legal word regarding child support for their children. She stated that the claims were completely untrue, and that she does, in fact, receive monthly child support payments.

Thus revelation shed light on the fact that it was not his ex-wife, but Baker himself who initiated court proceedings to assure that his children were in fact receiving all they needed…

But this isn’t the first time Hamlin has attempted to smear Baker, only to have it fly back in her face. In 2010, Hamlin accused Baker of defaulting on payments to his landlord. What actually happened? Baker had moved out of the property ahead of schedule and had to work out payments to the property owner. At question was whether the remaining rent was to come out of Baker’s security deposit, or if the deposit would be returned in full and he would issue remaining contracted payments on the due dates.

This issue was settled between Baker and his former landlord.

Man, it just seems a guy can’t catch a break for being honest and doing the right thing. Thank goodness for new media, and our ability to clear things up!

Updated: Fenton Parents Questioned In Scalding After Infant Taken Away By Ambulance

Fenton, MO- At approximately 8:30 am this morning Emergency Responders arrived at the single-family home at San Miguel and Beso Court, where an infant was rushed into an ambulance, screaming and covered by a large blanket by an unidentified person. Soon after, police and a Crime Scene Investigation Team arrived, and continued to process the scene through the late afternoon.

St. Louis County Police removed around a dozen firearms from a home in unincorporated Fenton, according to witnesses. According to neighbors, multiple firearms were removed from the property around 2:45 in the afternoon, about one half hour before busses were due to drop students off from a nearby elementary school. It is not clear why the firearms were removed from the home, as it appears no firearms were involved in the incident, leaving many to wonder about due process and Second Amendment Rights.

The father and mother of the child have been detained, and held separately, by St. Louis County Police in the questioning of what was deemed a scalding, but have not been charged.

The condition of the infant is unknown at the time. Though one neighbor stated she thought she might have seen flames through the front door of the household, no fire was confirmed. In addition to the infant, the mother, father and two young boys also live at the rented property.

Fenton, a middle-class suburb about 20 minutes west of St. Louis, has always been considered a quiet family neighborhood by residents, has seen a disturbing rise in crime and drug activity in recent months.

Update: The infant was rushed to St. John’s Mercy hospital with burns over 80% of the body.  The scalding was apparently so gruesome, responding paramedics responding to the initial scene were not permitted to enter the home.

Second Debate of Ten Between Ed Martin and Ambassador Wagner on Monday

Per Ed Martin’s Website:

(St. Louis) – November 15, 2011 – In just six days, the two Republicans vying to be their party’s pick for Missouri’s Second Congressional District will square off in their second debate in O’Fallon.

The Martin Campaign carried an energy from the debate that lasted for weeks.  They put every question from the debate on their website and posted the videos to Twitter and Facebook.  In contrast, the Wagner camp went silent.  They have commited to one more after Monday’s debate, but have yet to commit to the other seven debates proposed by Ambassador Wagner.

“I enjoy debates for the same reason that I think primaries are a positive thing,” said Martin.  ”They allow voters to see candidates from every angle in order to make an informed choice instead of having their choices made for them, which often happens without primaries.  The people of MO-2 want to hear real answers to issues that continue to affect their everyday lives.  I look forward to a debate with real substance, not soundbites.”

Monday’s debate will take place at the Culpepper’s on Highway K in O’Fallon from 6pm to 7pm.  To see a full list of debates scheduled so far, please visit

Tyler Dasher, 1, Found Dead, Mother in Custody

Reported abducted toddler, Tyler Dasher was found dead yesterday afternoon near River Des Peres by a couple walking their dogs.  The 1 year-old’s body was discovered about a mile from the home he lived in with his mother and grandmother.

Sadly, this happened on our watch…in Saint Louis…in Affton, Missouri.  This hits extremely close to home, and sadly, this mirrors another unsolved “abduction” in Missouri, missing 1 year-old Lisa Irwin.  The question is, what in the world is going on???

Fox 2 KTVI has confirmed that a suspect is in custody.  The suspect is Tyler’s mother, Shelby Ann Dasher.

It must be stressed, the cause of death is unknown, at this point, nor is there a clear motive in the Dasher case.  Yet, at the same time, this is one of those situations where we need to take a step back from the daily grind, look at our children and hold them tight, then look to our family and friends who may be struggling, and as dutiful Christians, lend them a hand…because that is what God has called us to do.

Perhaps, in a society that that pushed God away more and more by the minute, if we actually looked toward Him more, there would be less evil in the world.

Godspeed, Tyler Dasher.  Rest in Peace.
