Hobby Lobby Appreciation Day 1.5.2013

The largest Arts and Craft store in America, Hobby Lobby, has become the latest target of the socialist political agenda, and the witch-hunt of Christian corporations, organizations, and small business owners, perpetrated by the Mainstream Media.

Today supporters of the corporation and it’s owners religious freedoms flocked to the Hobby Lobby in Kirkwood, Missouri.

Hobby Lobby, a Christian-founded, Christian-based corporation, has decided to follow their faith in God, and the Lord’s Word, and refuse to offer potentially life-ending drugs as part of their employee insurance benefits package. In response to this decision, the Federal Government has launched an offensive against Hobby Lobby purely due to their religious beliefs.
David Greene, founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby has even informed that they will be fined a whopping $1.3million per day for refusing to comply with legislation that is in direct opposition to their religious beliefs. The federal government has exempted thousands of other corporations from this requirement due to financial concerns and financial burden. The government refuses, however, to exempt Hobby Lobby because of the unreported power-struggle of government’s quest to relinquish power over faith.
Below, find the letter released by Hobby Lobby CEO Green:

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God‘s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.

But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.

Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.

So, Hobby Lobby – and my family – are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that’s a choice no American – and no American business – should have to make.

The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.

Since you will not see this covered in any of the liberal media, pass this on to all your contacts.

Sincerely, David Green, CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.

Please share this letter on your blogs, and with all Christians, contacts, family, friends and fellow patriots!

Akin Attacks Delegitimizes Trauma of Rape

As a woman, as a mother, as a wife, I believe my body is sacred. It is sacred to God, it is sacred as my children’s womb and it is sacred as my husband’s deepest passion.

That being said, I am sharing the story of a dear friend, and rape survivor. She refuses to be called a victim…and based upon her plight, I cannot, for the life of me, understand anyone who would. And I cannot understand men or women, regardless if their political persuasion, who are exploiting a violent sexual attack on any woman for gain.
image

In case you head has been in a hole these past few days, feel free to check out the hoopla over Todd Akin…but what is more disturbing to me is the fact that both sides are exploiting this situation with zero regard for the pain their shameless digs drum up in women who have lived through it.
Here is Kirsten’s story:

As a young woman, I thought I new it all, and the world was mine to conquer. That all changed on bright, sunny afternoon when I was spending time with a friend, 3 years my senior.
Without getting into graphic detail, he raped me…as Whoopi Golderg would say, I was “rape raped”. I wasn’t beaten severely or held at knife point, but I was completely overpowered. I was also in shock, mortified, and in denial of what was happening to me.
Once the deed had been done, I didn’t know what to do. What if my parents found out? What about my peers? What if I became pregnant. The mental torture I endured from that singular event became my secret, and mine alone to bear.
Yes, I was in physical pain…excruciating, but emotionally, I was near death. What did I do to deserve this? I was a “good girl” as girls went, and had lost my virginity to a violent attack. It was stolen from me.
I could not sleep, I could not eat, I spent my days excusing myself to go to the restroom and cry for hours on end until my throat was raw.
Being young and foolish, I did not report the rape for fear of humiliation. On top of my physical and emotional pain, it would be far too bear.
I have no idea if I had gotten pregnant for sure. I do remember, being late for my period for 3 weeks, I had been struck down by a new terror. I hadn’t told anyone what happened to me, and now how was I to explain this? I was sure the man who did this to me would never tell the truth.
I was physically and emotionally at the end of my rope.
Two days later, I started bleeding heavily and that lasted nearly two weeks. I just remember being relieved that I had nothing more to explain away, if there was anything to begin with.
In hindsight, I believe I had been impregnated, and the stress on me, both physically and emotionally, was too much for my system. It was all equally traumatic as the first offense.
For many, many years, I kept this all to myself. Then the real world hit me. Every time there was a major story of a woman going through what I went through, it ripped of the scab to open the wounds anew. I am absolutely outraged that so many men and women, especially in the media, are so careless and self-centered that they neglect the emotions and mental health of rape survivors across the nation and around the globe. Do they not realize what they are doing to us? We relive that horrible, horrible moment over and over again. With every word spoken, I relive every moment, every thrust, every tear, and every fear of that rape.
Do they not realize the shame we carry, the guilt we feel, not to mention the depression? Do they not realize countless women have taken their own lives as a result of a “legitimate rape”, and each time they play such a nasty political press game, they are inching women that much closer to the brink?
I hope it’s worth it to them, to know that they are hurting so many…and for what? Where are the feminists who are supposed to be kind, tolerant, and understand me as a woman when I am hurt? I guess they just don’t get it.

Very good questions, indeed! Perhaps the “rape rape” MSM could get their heads out of their butts long enough to realize that when they exploit such situations, they are hurting thousands upon thousands. How many more women have to relive such a violation, and for how long?

…and based upon this woman’s story, I guess I can see where what Todd Akin said actually makes some sense…

What D. Truett Cathy REALLY Said…and the Hatred Who Spun It

Looks like Click-Fil-A is going to continue in the spotlight for a while to come…the left-wing progressive hatred just won’t see it any other way.

image

Most of us have reached a point where we would just like to be left alone to eat the new bacon…our chicken sammiches. But it seems we can not par-take in poultry without being labeled a homophobic hate monger. Why? Well, to be quite honest, it doesn’t fit the MSM narrative.
Let us first take a look at waht Chick-Fil-A Founder D. Truett Cathy actually said regarding marriage:

“supportive of the family —the biblical definition of the family unit.”

Did I miss something? I just can’t seem to find anywhere Mr Cathy said:

“I hate homosexuals.”
“I am opposed to gay marriage.”
“I am opposed to civil unions.”
“I will not hire homosexuals.”
“I will not serve homosexuals.”
“I hope they die if cancer.”
“I hope Roseanne Barr dies of cancer.”
“[Anyone] should all rot in hell.”
“I will make it my mission to give as much money as I can, and only to, any organization that opposes anything LGBT.”

Well, did he? No. The rest of the above was set into motion by progressive spinsters who…wait for it….hate any position that is diametrically opposed to their opinion.
Mr Cathy has the right to value what he sees fit for his family…just as I do…just as you do…without everybody else and their neighbor spinning it into something that it simply is not.
Could you imagine how frustrating that would be if every little think you said was rabidly twisted to fit an agenda that isn’t even on your radar?
I too support marriage and family as defined in the traditional Biblical sense…it is what works for my family. It is what my God has shown me is His desire.
That does not mean that I hate homosexuals, or even dislike them. For all I know, they have a different God, or even not God at all. I don’t shove my beliefs down their throats, and I sure as heck won’t let them shove theirs down mine!
Jesus taught us to love thy neighbor. Let’s do ourselves all a favor…love one another and leave the judgement to our God.
As long as you continue to perpetuate the lies and the hatred, you are guilty of sin…and that is something I certainly don’t want to bear…I have enough judgement of my own to come the day I meet my Maker.

Where’s The Beef???

To release the photo, or not to release the photo… that is the question.  Seems like for right now, the answer is no.

I do have a bit of the problem with that, and here’s why:

We have no evidence that anything actually went down.  There is no body.  Now we have no photos either.  Doesn’t this all sound a bit like the whole refusal to release the birth certificate thing?  I mean really, two weeks later?

But, but, but. . .the photos are too graphic!!!

Please, spare me.  We’ve seen much worse.  We’ve seen Americans plummetting to their death out of the burning Twin Towers on live television on September 11, 2001.  Heck, I’m a crime show junkie!  I see gruesome images ALL of the time!  So fine, let’s be responsible about it and say “We’re going to show these images on a specific network at a specific time.  Please make sure your children are not watching.”

But, but, but. . .it’l endanger American lives, and our Troops overseas!!!

WHY ARE THE TROOPS STILL THERE??? ***crickets*** Put them on a plane and bring them home, if they are in that much danger.  In my opinion, the damage is already done.  As for endangering American lives, the damage is already done.

Here’s what really gets me: Why capitalize on this?  The answer is propaganda.  This operation could have been pulled off and kept silent, and Osama Bin Laden simply would have disappeared, never to be heard from again.  So why in the world would the President choose to make this information public, if it was going to endanger his citizens?  That is the question nobody seems to be asking!

A few other things that bother me:

He was armed. . .no, wait, he was unarmed.

Seal Team 6 “does not exist”, yet they pulled off this operation.

Seals are experts at blowing things up, yet 1/2 of the chopper remains intact and available to the enemy.

He was captured, then killed. (Huh?)

And most interestingly:  According to sources in Canada and Europe, they had news of this operation on Easter Sunday. . .one week before we were told this happened.  How in the world was this newsworthy eight days earlier abroad?

And oh, by the way, I’ve seen pictures of Jack Bauer dead too, yet, somehow he was still alive. . .but I’m sure they only do that on television, right?

No beef, no belief.  I mean really, what reason has the Government ever given us to trust them.

I think what disturbs me most is that President Obama apparently believes that as long as a few higher-ups in the government are satisfied that this all went down and Bin Laden is dead, that should be good enough for the rest of us.  Well, it’s not good enough for this American!

Word of Warning: Know Your Facts!

A word of warning to the people who are falsely reporting on Citizen Journalist Adam Sharp:
You never know who actually has the facts!

Patriots: GIRD YOUR LOINS! The UofM Narrative. . .

While this weekend is primarily an obsolete weekend as far as news is concerned, we need to hold tight and protect the narrative around this HUGE story.

While all main-stream media outlets will be focusing on the Royal Wedding, the botched launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavor, and the continuing coverage of the storm damage in the south, the progressives will be busy at work too. . .they are going to try to capitalize on twisting the narrative on the U of M Scandal.  We need to re-group and hold tight on this story!

Here’s what you can do:

1. Find EVERY story in the news, the blogs, Facebook and Twitter.  Comment in the comment boxes and then share them on social sites.  We need to affirm the true narrative on this story throughout the weekend!

2. Back up each story with previous research!  This is not anything *new*.  It’s been going on for quite some time! Check out Dr. David Horowitz’s 2007 article:  Indoctrination Curriculum at the University of Missouri, the 2009 article David Horowitz v Women’s Studies or recount the slanderous attacks Horowitz faced by Mizzou Professor Mariam Golomb and the “protest for credits” she arranged with her students during his visit to the campus in 2003.  See, Commies and Progressives HATE being called out for who they are and what they are doing, so they try to deflect by making noise. . .and it’s not just Dr. Horowitz.  Just start googling and discovering– then post it!

3.  Don’t buy into the stale old “it was edited!!!” argument.  These videos may have been edited for the sake of timeliness, but were in NO WAY “hacked”.  This stuff is not taking out of context!  Why in the world would a Faculty member be endorsing extortion, industrial sabotage, violence, manipulation, scare tactics and criminal activity in a classroom.  This wasn’t a history class, for crying out loud!  It’s good to note that this is inappropriate content in a classroom setting.  Period.

4. MELT THE PHONES! Per Bill Hennessy:

1.  Call the Chancellors of all three schools at the numbers listed below.  Tell them you demand that they fire everyone responsible for these classes, and that they take positive steps to prevent criminal instruction in the system.

  • Thomas F. George, Chancellor, University of Missouri-St. Louis  314-516-5252
  • Leo Morton, Chancellor, University of Missouri-Kansas City 816-235-1101
  • Brady J. Deaton , Chancellor, University of Missouri 573-882-3387

And the U of M Interim President, Steve Owens, (573) 882-2011
2. Call your Missouri State Senator and ask him or to demand a vote on SB1, a bill that would give Missouri workers the right to opt out of union membership.  You can look up your Senator here.
3.  Call Missouri House Speaker Steve Tilley  at 573-751-1488.  Tell Speaker Tilley you want SB1 voted on and passed, and you don’t care how many of his donors it irritates.
4. Call Governor Jay Nixon at Phone: (573) 751-3222

Tell each person you speak to you want:

  1. Shut down Labor Studies until the department’s been purged of anti-American radicals
  2. Fire Missouri state employees who invited David Giljum and that communist into classroom
  3. Apologize to Missouri taxpayers who pay $400 million a year for that university system
  4. Apologize to the students and their parents who sat through that filth
Your calls are absolutely imperative with our Legislators today especially, as our Lt. Governor Peter Kinder is pulling out all of the stops: He is addressing President Pro Tem Mayer, House Majority Leader Speaker Tilley, and the rest of the elected officials to call for a full investigation into this matter, including a scheduling of hearings (see below for more).
5. Follow hashtag “#mounion” on Twitter. Click on every link which upholds the truth of this story, and retweet it back out.
For full audio by Lt. Governor Peter Kinder on his plan of action, listen to yesterday’s airing of The Dana Show:

And here are a couple of stories to get you started on:

Kansas City Star (UMKC Refusing to Take Responsibility)

CBS Local (UMSL Looking into the Matter)

Missouri Statenews

Funny. . .Post-Distort Dispatch has made no mention of the situation.  Hmm. . .

Local Teamsters Go Way Of Mickey Mouse!

You’ll remember last week,  the Teamsters were lobbying in Jefferson City,  but they also  had to scrub their Rally due to low turnout.  Guess even when General President Hoffa Jr was headlining the event, a free bus ride and box lunch still doesn’t cut it!

So, in looking around for ANY info on what the Teamsters were up to last week, I found a lone tweeter, Cathy Sherwin, updating the Twittersphere on what Mr. Hoffa was sharing with his weak audience of 200. . .and you’re not going to believe what his mantra was. . .

Wait for it. . .

Wait for it. . .

He went all Disney on his Union Croanies!!!

I kid you not, his theme was none other than High School Musical’s “We’re All In This Together”!

C’mon!  Sing it with me!

We’re All In This Together

Once We Know That We Are

We’re All Stars

And We See That

We’re All In This Together!

The Left Can’t Seem To Organize It’s Way Out Of A Box!

So, apparently the Teamsters are not only lobbying in Jefferson City today, but they are also hosting a Rally.  That was the plan, anyway.  In fact, it all looked to be pretty well organized. . . to the extent that they began advertising the event a month and a half before the event.  In fact they, were “assuming a large turnout” for the Rally since General President Hoffa was headlining the event.

Well, I guess we all know what happens when you A-S-S-U-M-E.  Yep, Teamsters, once again, made asses out of themselves. . . again!

Yesterday, Gateway Pundit reported on the miserable failure yesterday’s “Tax the Rich” Rally, which brought in a pathetic couple dozen loonies.  Most of them appeared dazed, confused, and distracted by the fact that they needed to come up with some sort of excuse as to why they were at a *Rally* (if you want to call it that), and not at work.

So, fast-forward ONE DAY.  Tuesday, April 19, 2011.  I was really hoping to make it out to out to the Capitol to meet with my friends in the House and Senate. . .but moreso, to see how well the moonbats organized after yesterday’s @ass-smacking fizzle.  Unfortunately, I am also a parent with two small children, which does not afford me to take-off on a whim.  So, I set to the internet to do what I do best. . . drive my left pals nuts.

I started searching for any and all articles on today’s BIG RALLY. Nada.  I logged onto Facebook to spy back on the *oh-so-clever* lefty “Friends” who really don’t think I’m on to them. Still nothing.  I thought, surely I’d find something in my Twitterfeed. *Crickets*  Well, that’s not entirely true.  I found ONE person on all of Twitter tweeting about it.  NO mention of a Rally, NO pictures of a Rally.  In fact, it looks like it was even worse than yesterday’s faceplant to the concrete.  They DID have a small group in a meeting room <a href=”http://twitpic.com/4mx3hp&#8221; title=”Share photos on twitter with Twitpic”><img src=”http://twitpic.com/show/thumb/4mx3hp.jpg&#8221; width=”150″ height=”150″ alt=”Share photos on twitter with Twitpic”></a>

So, my question of the day is this:  For all the brainless lefties who have been watching the Tea Party for the last two years, what have you learned?  Certainly not how to organize, that’s for sure.
